About Doc

Adoption Fee: $100
Plott / Catahoula
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Doc is another abandoned dog who was suffering outside in the bitter cold and wind when he crossed the road in front of volunteers out doing shelter work. He was clearly grateful to be in a warm truck and readily shared the seat with another dog as the relief of rescue overtook his stressed body. When stopping for lunch, he was left alone in the cab with no incidents as he patiently waited for his rescuers to return. Doc is very friendly to both dogs and cats. He seems familiar with being leashed though he does pull and shows his strength when doing so. He is very gentle and while appreciative of safe and comfy shelter, the confinement to a small space is a difficult adjustment. The bitter temperatures of January require the doors to the outside to be down more than is usual. Doc is 2.5 years old. Arrival date Dec 24, 2017. As we learn more about Doc, his profile will be updated. Doc's adoption fee is $100. Application can be submitted online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/'|/dog-adopti'|/ or at the shelter. Adoption of all dogs/cats requires an approval process to ensure that they are going into a home appropriate for their needs and that will keep them safe. The process can take 1 to 3 days and for anyone traveling a distance to meet a dog/cat, it is suggested that the process be done first so that the applicant will know if they are approved to adopt. Each of our residents is loved and nurtured by our staff and volunteers during their stay with us and each is placed with same due diligence that they would be given if they were our own family members. Adoption policies and application procedures are at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. All approved adopters must come to the shelter and accompany their new family member on the journey home. We do not ship nor do we transport. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter which provides quality care, spay/neuter-all vaccines, deworming, vet exam, standard disease testing and for dogs-monthly heart worm prevention treatment. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4. Shelter location: 4823 Helen Hwy. 75N, Sautee, GA 30571 Shelter phone: 706-865-4135 Shelter email: [email protected] Sautee is located 3 miles from the Alpine town of Helen in the NE mountains of GA.
