About Velma

Lawton, OK Velma is a beautiful 2 year old Great Dane mix . Her foster mom thinks she must have experienced some abuse as she is quite slow to warm up, but will allow them to love on her if they are quiet, reassuring, and slow. This sweet girl would really like a home where she can finally feel safe, confident, and learn to enjoy life again. Velma loves her little fluffy foster brother (a mini schnauzer-corgi mix) and two Great Dane foster sisters and needs a home with fur siblings (the more the merrier) as she doesn't like to be alone. Velma does okay with cats but should not be around farm animals as she has a high prey drive. Her foster mom taught Velma how to be patient at mealtimes and she eats near everyone else. She is not aggressive with food, treats, toys, beds or personal space. Velma is leash and house trained. Velma is very well mannered on a leash walks. She can sleep in a crate at night as long as she can see her humans and the other dogs, but she does sleep wherever she wants at her foster's house. Velma's favorite spots are on the couch with her biggest foster sister Devon and the big dog bed on the bedroom floor. Velma prefers to be free with her foster siblings when left home alone; she doesn't like being crated when the others are free. Due to some separation anxiety issues, Velma would prefer her human works from home or to be left in an enclosed space with another dog.
