About Clara

ABOUT ME: Clara is an easy-going, affectionate 2.5 year old Bullmastiff mix girl that would love to find a home for the holidays. This lovely lady is as sweet as can be, despite the terrible things that happened to her before rescue. When we first took Clara in to have her eyes fixed, the surgeon found a bullet embedded in her right cheek! Needless to say, she is feeling much better now that it's out, and is ready to go to her forever family! WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: Clara loves people of all ages and sizes. However, she sometimes gets excited when she meets new friends or starts playing, so a home with children over 7 would be best. Although she is working on getting over her fear of sudden loud noise, she would prefer a more laid-back and quiet household. Although she prefers to be with people, Clara has been around cats and dogs of all sizes without incident. If she had a choice, she would spend her days snoozing in the sun, but her foster mom tells us that she will definitely play if another dog engages her! THE DETAILS: Clara is housebroken and crate-trained. She knows basic obedience, and has almost perfected walking on a leash! When she first came to rescue, Clara seemed to have occasional incontinence, but has been doing great with the help of her medication and hasn't had any further issues. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, and will be microchipped before going to her forever home. Clara has started treatment for heartworms, which she will need to continue with her forever family. Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting.
