About Arya

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID DIVA ALERT!! Arya is a 4 year old Yorkie (most likely a purebred) who came to Fuzzy Pawz from a local shelter. Nervous and scared in a shelter environment Arya barked, growled, snapped and lunged at people (and yes she bit someone). It appears that Arya in her previous home was taught no manners and was allowed to do as she pleased. Arya learned to show her displeasure of being asked to do something by snapping at people. She was placed in a home with 2 adults and 4 other dogs; Arya immediately warmed up to the lady of the home and would tolerate the man if the lady wasn't around. Now a few weeks later Arya follows her foster mom around and they are best friends; she will lie with her foster dad for a snooze). Arya is not a fan of strangers and needs slow introductions to them and kids are a no go! Since Arya has learned that she is not to use her teeth when she is displeased she has moved on to making sure everyone knows she rules the home and everything in it belongs to her. She is getting better and with time, consistency and patience Arya will settle and realize that she does not have to be the boss and instead can relax and be a dog. Dogs her own size are great for her but she would prefer to not be around big dogs; they make her nervous; honestly she would probably prefer to be the only dog in the home. She likes her crate but will bark at any loud noises while you are not home. She loves to destroy a toy and hump things she thinks belongs to her. She loves walks and is good on leash but is not friendly to new dogs or people while on them. Arya presents some challenges but with the right home, loving patient people who realize she just needs some time and consistency she will blossom. Arya would benefit from some positive reward training with someone like Bad Behavior/Good Dog.
