About Gilligan

Let's get this out of the way right off the bat....Gilligan is heartworm positive. We wonder even how that can happen to a 10 month old PUPPY!!!???? But, given the right climate where mosquito's are abundant(apparently in Oklahoma!)and a place where a dog or puppy would be left outside and be exposed for long periods to the risk I guess that is how it happens. The good news is he is only 10 month old so surely could not have had the heartworms for very long. He has started on the slow kill protocol which has been 100% effective in all the dogs we have cared for with heartworms that have received this treatment. The rescue provides the meds and retest in 6-8 months. Ok, that behind us, Gilligan..or Gilly as we call him is a wonderful little guy. He is short and stocky, a little barrel on stubby legs. Gilly is happy and outgoing, although at first was fearful of our larger dogs. With a little help he got over that quickly. Gilly loves his other dog buddies and LOVES to be out playing in the snow, even tho we have to limit his time with this bitter cold. He is a quiet guy, not much for barking, into snuggling indoors and loves him a warm place in the sun. He is such a chubby little baby boy, looking for a loving family!!
