About Callie

Adoption Fee: $85
Domestic Cat
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Callie was abandoned at Petsmart (19945 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77094) on October 30, 2017. She was found behind a series of scratching towers in a carrier on top of a cart. It was unknown how long she had been there till an employee found her, thankfully an organization known as Mutts and Meows was having adoptions that day and she was able to get some needed attention. When we found her she was extremely overweight, around 21 pounds, and sounded very distressed. She let out low meows, calling for help, wondering what was going on, and where she was. Her owners had fed her so much that she was unable to clean a large portion of her back, clumps of matted fur, which looked as if they were 4-6 months old, stained her skin. Because of this she was uncomfortable, and bared sores under all of the fur. Frantically the volunteer supervisors and myself looked for anyone willing to foster her till we could get her proper vaccinations and medical checkups. Sadly we couldn't place her in with our other cats because we had no information on her, we didn't know if she had any contagious diseases, or sicknesses that would transfer to our other cats, it was much too risky. So, seeing that the cat had been neglected and abandoned, I took it on myself to take care of her. My father would not let me keep her, but I was able to find a foster for her within the next day. My colleges warned me of taking her in as I could not get her adopted through Mutts and Meows, I would have to do everything on my own, a challenge I would gladly take on if it would save Callie's life. The main problem many told of was her age, she was 12 years old, and not in amazing condition, well I figured that if she was a senior feline, she should live the rest of her life with someone who would actually care for her, and love her till the end of her days. About a month later we got her vaccinations and she was clear of any medical endangerment's, so we set her up for adoption. As of now she has lost a few pounds and is living a much healthier life, in anyone is interested in caring for a senior cat who needs some love, please feel free to contact me, thank you so much, and I hope you have a wonderful day.
