About Zelda

Zelda is a 2 YO (DOB 12-17-15), 50 lbs, sweet, loving girl whom PAWS pulled from Animal Control when she was surrendered by her owner who couldn't 'handle' her anymore. Her personality is playful, friendly, independent, affectionate, and energetic, and she does NOT jump up on people. She loves to play, run, and go for walks, but also loves to be loved on and lay on your lap so she has the perfect mixture of both qualities. She is super smart, eager to please, and picks up quickly on commands such as 'Come' and 'Stay', and is working on 'Sit'. She is really energetic at first, but she just gets excited to meet new people and will calm down just fine. Because she is an active dog, she'll need daily walks and play/run time with her people or canine companions. She is somewhat vocal, but not considered a nuisance barker and likes chewing on her bones and treats. Zelda is being fostered with other dogs and is playful and friendly towards them and is friendly with or ignores the foster cats. She has not been around young children, but would be fine with them as long as there is appropriate parental supervision. She absolutely LOVES to ride in a car and is a super good co-pilot! Her fosters take her for walks off leash on their 25 acre mountain property and she stays right with them. If she happens to wander off, she'll come right back when called. She loves to run around the fenced-in yard with her foster canine siblings and really enjoys playing tug-a-war! She is house trained, and is confined to a laundry room at nighttime or when her fosters have to be away during the day. She doesn't display any separation anxiety and is fine being kept in there. Zelda is working on leash training, but still pulls so this is one area her new owner(s) would need to continue working with her on. Zelda would do best with an individual or family who like to get out and walk, hike, or run and/or have another canine companion(s) she can play with or where she would have regular interactions with other dogs. Zelda is a delightful dog who would be a great addition to any family.
