About Chico (wire-haired)

Hi there! My name is Chico, which is Spanish for small, which I am! I'm a sweet, incredibly smart, eager-to-please, personality-plus 12-pound blonde and white wire-haired Chihuahua mix fella who was born in January 2014. I've got the cutest fuzzy crest (like a Mohawk) on the top of my head, and I've got a white blaze, chin, tummy, and paws. My favorite spot is snuggling up in my human's lap or sleeping under the blankets with him. I adore being held, and being petted all day long would be heaven for me. I'm laid-back, quiet, as well as calm and don't yap and shiver like a lot of nervous Chihauhuas do. I'm a perky and playful dude who loves running around the yard to investigate. I adore people of all ages, including kids and toddlers, as well as playing with the dogs at the dog park. In short, I get along with everyone, both 2-legged and 4-legged: adults, kids, and other dogs. Although I was intimidated by the one cat whom I've met, I'm sure that I'd be fine with cats too, with the proper introductions. True confessions, I can be timid and spook easily, so don't be surprised if I look scared sometimes, i.e. of the 14-lb. cat whom I encountered! I guess you're wondering how a perfect dude like me ended up being in rescue. Originally, a Good Samaritan found me wandering the streets as a forlorn stray and brought me to Buster's Friends around New Year's 2018. Then, to my delight, I was adopted by the dog trainer at the dog boarding and grooming salon that partners in rescue with Buster's Friends. With a dog trainer as my human daddy and because I'm very food-motivated, I learned to do anything, including behavioral training, for treats! So now I know my basic commands but, depending on who is behind the leash, I will push my limits. Unfortunately my blissful life over the past year and a half is coming to a screeching halt because my best forever human friend is moving out of Houston and can't take me with him. This situation is breaking both of our hearts, but I'm trying to stay positive about it because he's turned once again to Buster's Friends to find me a great lifetime home. In fact, I heard him tell Buster's Friends, 'Chico's an amazing dog who will succeed in almost any household. He's a great dog with an amazing personality,' Won't you come meet me today so I can crawl up in your lap to snuggle? I'm such a sweetheart that you will fall in love with me! We can start writing new chapters of our lives together. Chico is updated on shots, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative.
