Pari is here and she sure is a keeper. She is absolutely gorgeous, has a beautiful build, albeit a bit skinny right now. She is patiently waiting for her furever home, so hurry before she gets adopted. I'm sure she won't last long! Meet Pari Desi Dog, who arrived on December 27 from India! Pari is an Indian Pariah Dog mix - one of the oldest known breeds. In India, these street dogs are known as 'Desi Dogs.' Pari is 2 years old and at 35 pounds, a nice medium sized dog. Her pregnant, paralyzed mother was taken in by the local rescue group in India and Pari was born at the rescue center. She grew up surrounded by other dogs at the rescue center in India. Now, together with her sister Pia, she's getting her chance to come to the U.S. in search of a home and family of her own. The rescue center describes Pari as active, confident, and lovable. She loves to play. They report that she walks well on a leash, is generally fairly quiet, and does not have any accidents in her bed, crate or the rescue center. She is working on learning 'sit,' 'come,' and 'stay.' She is food motivated and pays close attention when training. Life in the U.S. will take a little adjustment for her, so she may need slow introductions to people and dogs at first. She will also miss her favorite food- boiled beans and carrots. Maybe you'd be willing to make some for her? Desi Dogs make wonderful additions to our OPH adopters' families. They are smart loving and loyal pets! Because of the Desi Dogs' unique history and background, Pari's potential adopters will need to have some training set up and ready to help her continue to make the transition from street dog in India to spoiled dog in the U.S. The training will only ensure her continued progress in becoming a perfect member of your family! Pari is spayed and up to date on vaccinations and monthly preventatives. If you are interested in meeting her, apply today!
