About Samson

[Read About Natural Cancer Care] Samson is a special needs 5 year old Staffordshire Terrier Mix who is super intelligent and a total goofball at the same time! We are looking for either an adopter or a long term medical/hospice foster for Samson. After everything he has been through, we don't know anyone more deserving of spending the last of his time in this world in a loving home. We don't know how much time he has left, it could be months, it could be years. We love Samson so much and so want him to be happy and enjoy his life! Samson has been living with a trainer and is impeccably trained. He is perfect on a leash, crate trained, and potty trained. He needs an owner that will not allow him to alpha, and will continue the structure he has come to know. He is cautious of new people and must be approached with a happy and calm demeanor so that he does not become anxious. He loves to cuddle and play and run around the yard! He was dog aggressive when he first came to us, and while he has greatly calmed down, he must be an 'only child'. Due to his strength, we recommend no children. There's no other way around it: Samson is a medical mess. He was brought in as a stray to Maricopa County Animal Care & Control and was in need of urgent medical care and was set to be euthanized. He had a prolapsed colon, that needed to be surgically treated, as he was in great danger of losing his colon altogether. He had four separate surgeries done to fix the issue. He also had severe Demodex mange, a non-contagious form that appears in compromised immune systems. He was emaciated and had numerous intestinal parasites as well. Samson was recently diagnosed with cancer. While we weren't surprised, with everything he has been through, it didn't soften the devastation. This poor guy has gone through so much in an attempt to live as normal and healthy of a life as he can, and now this? He has had surgical mass removals and is not a candidate for chemotherapy. We are supporting his system with home-cooked meals, supplements, and Dinovite. He needs to be fed a poultry and grain free diet. He occasionally needs treatment for his Demodex if he has a flair, it's a pill called Bravecta and lasts a month. His journey has been long and arduous. And not once has his spirit wavered.
