About Max

Max is a handsome 6-month-old Rat Terrier mix with some traits that suggest he has a Miniature Pinscher or two in his family tree. Weighing just 8 lbs., he's small in size, but he has a huge personality--with a great temperament and lots of energy. Max enjoys chasing a ball and playing with toys (especially the squeaky kind) and with other dogs. He gets along with both the dogs and cats in his foster home and would enjoy having a canine companion in his forever home. Max also likes to be wherever his people are so that he can get plenty of attention. When he is ready to settle down, he wants to be on your lap to get belly rubs and give lots of puppy kisses and snuggles. He will even curl up right on your lap and take a nap. At bedtime, Max prefers to sleep in bed next to his people and has done well going all night with no accidents. If he's not able to get outside, he will use a potty pad if one is available. If you need to leave Max alone for part of the day, he will readily go into a crate if you offer a treat. He has learned that his crate is a good place, not a place for punishment. He's working hard at walking nicely on a leash, but he hopes you have a fenced yard, where he can run and explore to find treasures like leaves and twigs. He also hopes you'll enroll him in a puppy training class so that he can be the awesome little dog he knows he's meant to be.
