Hello, my name is Tracy. I am reaching out nationwide to dog rescuers or people looking to adopt, in hopes to find a fighting chance for a dog in California. I ended up with him by accident, but I can't keep him. There was a drunk driver that owned him and wrecked with him in the car which resulted in him being ran over and losing his front leg. The owner has since gone to jail for the next 12 months and someone posted on Facebook looking for his owner. I offered to help look for his owner which somehow led to me fostering him. Which was fine on a temporary basis. My family helped him heal, helped him regain his ability to walk, provided vet care, and house training ect. But no one ever came back for him. It was through diligence and creative investigation that I finally discovered who his owner was. And that he wasn't coming back. The problem is as much as we think he is amazing, we absolutely can not keep him. And now that the trauma is wearing off, he as becoming extremely possessive and I think he might have ptsd. We have 5 kids who sometimes get rowdy. (As kids sometimes do) and he goes into immediate defense mode and lunges at kids. He may do well with very calm kids, older kids, or a lot of time and training. We do want him to have the best fighting chance at finding the perfect new home. With all of the love compassion, and care that he deserves. But we do not want him to end up in a shelter because his chances of adoption there are pretty slim.
