Mellie is almost too big a name for this tiny, tiny, tiny little girl. Miss Mellie is a mere 2.5 pounds full grown! She is so tiny she could fit in a handbag with a lot of room to spare. This little girl came from a home where there were too many dogs, not enough money. She's only about a year old on the timid side because it is apparent she didn't get a lot of attention from her people. However, there is not one mean bone in this little girl's body and she is learning very quickly what it means to be doted on. Mellie would do best in a home with adults and older children because she is really that tiny. She is great with other dogs but, again due to her small stature, any dogs in the home should be on the small side. Cats are okay with her as long as they don't use her for a plaything. If you are interested in adopting Miss Mellie, please read on or go to the Adoption Process page of our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org. All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - the link is found of the Adoption Process page. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
