About Doki

Schnauzer mix
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

Doki is about 3 1/2 months old and weighs about 10 pounds. He was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico where he was wondering the streets looking for food, water, shelter and love but found none. He survived on mere scraps and on anything that smelled even slightly of food. One day Doki met a lovely person who took pity on him and took him to Save a Sato Foundation. The nice volunteers there fed him and gave him affection. When FHDR heard about Doki we flew him to NJ to live in a nice foster home. This is what Doki's foster family says%BD'%BD|%BD'%BD|.'Cute, Cute, Cute! That's Doki! He is so friendly, playful and sweet. This easy going puppy enjoys playing in the yard, playing with the Kong toys that are filled with treats and playing with my dog. Doki jumps in air to grab his toy if I hold it high..just all around cute! He loves to be held and have his tummy rub and he will shower us with puppy kisses in return. He's good on the leash and keeps a good pace walking with our dog. Everybody that meets him say they'd take him home if they could. And he's a sturdy brave little dog with a siren of a howl for protection. It's funny he's always moving around following me everywhere and I didn't think he would sit still for the pictures but he was a good boy and sat down while he was getting his pictures taken. Doki is fully of energy and fun!' When Doki came to Furever Home Dog Rescue, he did not look very handsome as he had patches of hair loss. So, we took him him to the vet and had him tested and the results showed that Doki had mange. The good news for Doki is he had Demodectic Mange, which is easily treated and curable and not contagious. All dogs raised normally by their mothers possess demodectic mange mites, which are transferred from mother to pup via cudding during the first few days of life. Sometimes, like in Doki's case, it becomes a problem & most of the time demodectic manges clears up by itself. But FHDR had Doki treated so he heals even faster- and today his skin is healing nicely and now his hair should start to growing in. If you can look past his temporary hair loss you will see his charm! We know when you meet Doki you will fall in Love!! If you have a furever home for this pup, please email us at [email protected] for an adoption application. To see more photos or to see Furever Home Dog Rescue's other rescue pups up for adoption, go to www.fhdr.petfinder.com Please note Furever Home Dog Rescue does not adopt puppies/dogs to homes where they will be alone all day. The breed this pet is listed as is Furever Home Dog Rescue's best guess as we have no background info on who the mom and dad are. Furever Home Dog Rescue does not have a shelter facility you can visit. Our volunteers foster the dogs and pups in their homes once they have been vetted and transported to NJ.
