About Bear

This is Bear! Bear is a good boy! We have been fostering Bear for a while, but recently moved to a small house in the city with no yard and can no longer meet his needs. While we have had Bear he has been neutered, micro-chipped, house trained, gotten vaccinated and gotten a general clean bill of health from the vet. The vet said that they believe he is about 3-years old and probably a Pit / Boxer mix. Bear is the strongest dog I have ever seen. I have never been able to keep him in a crate because he can break them! However, he does well outside of the crate for the most part. He does have some separation anxiety and does not like it when we leave. He has come such a long way, and we have tried very hard to get him ready for a forever home. He's going to be an amazing pet for whoever can invest the time in him the way that he deserves. Bear is excellent with children and adults. He has always been great with our older female dog and our cats. He has not been aggressive with our younger male dog, but our younger male dog has gotten aggressive with him due to irritation over Bear's dominance behaviors. Bear wants to be the alpha, so he may do better as an only dog or with a female who does not mind being submissive. He has gotten growly, but does not attack. Typically he does do a lot of 'mounting,' however, when challenged. He does not do this to humans, only other male dogs. Bear is a sweet, goofy boy who is playful and very loving. He has a ferocious bark, but there is no meanness in him and he can most commonly be found laying in someone's lap because he does not understand that he weights 75lbs.
