It is going to take a special person to give Porter a new home. He is a fun, friendly, playful dog 95% of the time. Unfortunately, he occasionally displays some aggressive behavior, including towards his family. His current home has young children, and because he has snapped at and bitten (no skin broken) kids in the past, he really cannot be in a home where there will routinely be young children. He is 100% house trained (impressively so), he doesn't chew, and he sleeps through the night. He is cheerful and friendly (especially so in the morning) and loves to play and wrestle with most dogs. Unfortunately, there are some dogs that he doesn't get along with (usually smaller , yippy dogs or dogs with curly hair (don't know why). His aggressive behavior has been pretty severe - to the point where he has growled, snarled, and snapped at the male owner (never been aggressive towards the female owner). He will always forget about the aggressive behavior and be back to his friendly self the next day. The triggers of this behavior are unknown and he can go months without an episode or it can happen multiple times in a given week. This is not a dog that should be adopted by someone without a lot of experience handling dogs. Should someone be interested in giving him a home, we would want to screen them carefully to make sure that they fully understand the extent of his aggressive behavior and are prepared to deal with it. Again, he is a wonderful dog 98% of the time. And for that other 2% he needs a special, experienced dog lover to help him work through his issues.
