There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Cassie, at only about 12 weeks old and 15 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 40 - 50 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Cassie just in time. This sweet and engaging Labrador Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Cassis is also incredibly beautiful...with the gorgeous streaks of gold and fawn that have come out since she received a good, sudsy bath after her release from the shelter. Cassie is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart...very typical of the cross of a Lab and a Cattle Dog. The one thing that's clear is that she's an amazing puppy.... bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Cassie is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans out in the world) and learn positive socialization skills through positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten class followed by group obedience Classes (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area). It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. We're open to Cassie finding her forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Cassie is amazing with children of all ages as well (as is evident in her photo in her foster home)...she will be a gift to a child as a full-time best friend and a cuddle-bug in their growing up years. Cassie will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from New Mexico... however a very young puppy like Cassie is often deemed too young to spay. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Cassie to be fixed at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Cassie has a stunning coat that will require periodic care. To maintain a cottony-soft and very healthy coat, there will need to be a commitment to great nutrition and bathing/brushing. Cassie will be arriving on transport in Denver in early January. If interested in a sweet and cuddly lap-puppy and best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to 303-443-7730. If you're truly interested in adopting Cassie, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
