There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Meeka, at only 16 weeks old and approximately 10 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 30 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this wonderful puppy...they rescued Meeka just in time. This sweet and engaging purebred Blue Heeler is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Meeka is also incredibly beautiful...with the gorgeous streaks of gold and fawn that have come out since she received a good, sudsy bath. Meeka is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Blue Heeler. She's also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Meeka absolutely loves her humans (as well as her canine foster brother) and is so excited to spend quality time together. Meeka is an extremely loving puppy...and is so happy to be a lap dog.. or cuddle up in the night for special belly rubs and kind words. Since Meeka is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes (Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in you area). It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with excellent behavior. We're open to Meeka finding her forever home with an active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Meeka is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle and consistent training regimen. Meeka will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from New Mexico, however a very young puppy like Meeka is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Meeka to be spayed/microchipped at our Denver vet to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Meeka will be arriving on transport in Denver in early January (exact date will be updated as soon as information is available). If interested in this exceptional best friend and very loving companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to 303-443-7730. If you're truly interested in adopting Meeka, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
