About Simon

Adoption Fee: 75
Dalmatian / German Shorthaired Pointer
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Simon is a lovable lap dog, even for his size, he very much still thinks he'a a puppy. Very caring and loving companion, we only have to give him up because he constantly is trying to pick fights with big dogs around our apartment complex. He does not do well with dogs and is very dominant when other dogs are present. He requires a strict diet with Fromm or Call of the Wild dog food, as anything else tends to activate seizure spasms. During heavy thunderstorms he gets anxious and nervous but does much better if he can find a tight spot away from the noise, such as under a bed or a small closet. His coat leaves behind fine white hair and he requires to be sedated in order to get his nails cut,. He loves big open fields and splashing through the lake. We've had Simon for almost 8 years and he was adopted after recently turning 2 years old from a shelter. He bonds rather quickly with new people. An ideal environment for Simon would include a large fenced-in back yard, or private lake access where he could freely roam and run. He needs to be able to stay indoors the majority of the day as he gets extremely anxious if caught out in the rain, he will dog massive holes out of excessive anxiety if left in the rain. His dog food costs about $50-$75 a bag and Will last him about 2-3 months, this is the best use as any other cheaper brand food tends to give him bad seizures, as long as he has quality Fromm or Call of the Wild food, no seizures strike and he doesn't require any medication. The shelter stated that he was found along with his siblings abandoned during a heavy storm which may be why he is so traumatized by the weather. We wouldn't be putting him up for adoption if we were in our old home, but a change in our financial situation is he reason we had to come to an apartment the constant issues with other dogs is the primary reason for us having to find a new home for him.
