About Digby

Adoption Fee: $90
Chihuahua / Feist
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Digby is 2 1/2 YO, 8 lbs, little bundle of pure delight! He came to PAWS in October after being abandoned by his family. At first, he was scared and didn't want to trust anyone. It took some time, but with lots of patience and love from his foster family, Digby has realized not all humans are bad and that makes him happy. Upon first meeting new people, he is wary, but with a little time and some treats, he warms up to them shortly. He is very playful, has lots of energy, and loves to play with squeaky toys and chew on bones. He can get bored if his people aren't around, so we suggest making available toys and bones to keep him occupied so he doesn't chew on anything inappropriate. He loves to play with all three of his foster canine siblings (two males and one female), but prefers not to be around hyper dogs. However, his foster sister doesn't share the same affection for him, and let's him know quickly when she doesn't want to be bothered. He knows when to back off and leave her and other dogs alone. Digby's foster has six resident felines, of both sexes, living with them and he gets along well with them all. He has never tried to hurt or bite them. However, he does like to bark at them and chase them if one walks by him. He is easily trained and the foster family is working on correcting this behavior. Digby is crate trained, but loves to sleep in the bed with his humans. He likes to sleep under the covers in the bend of your legs or right up against your back%BD'%BD|a true snuggle pup! He is potty trained and prefers to go out 3-4 times a day; after he eats, when he wakes up, and before going to bed. He walks nicely on a leash and doesn't mind his harness at all. His ideal family would be one that's active with older children or a couple who would love to have a canine companion to keep them entertained. He would do best with a calmer canine brother or sister he could play with in a fenced-in yard. He loves to run and play, but needs the confinement of a fence to ensure his safety at home. He's also quite happy going on walks frequently throughout the day with his family. Digby would love to have a new forever home by the New Year!
