About Fletcher

Adoption Fee: $100
German Shepherd / Basset Hound
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Fletcher was saved from euthanasia at an area shelter where he had been picked up as a stray. While in the shelter, he became severely stressed and since his rescue has been recovering from his ordeal and learning to trust humans. He is doing great! He is happy, playful and a likeable dog. He's good on a leash and loves to go for walks and can sit and shake his paw. Fletcher is looking for a guardian who is experienced and understanding of his needs. Once he gets to know and trust you, he will come up to you for petting and playing. He gets along well with other dogs and cats. Fletcher is housebroken and well behaved in the house. This handsome dog appears to be a German Shepherd/Bassett Hound or Corgi Mix who weighs 33 lb and his estimated DOB is 7/27/11. He's very cute! He has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. Experienced dog owner recommended who is patient and understanding and will take things slowly and give him time to adjust and learn to respect and trust you. He is looking for a home without small children. $100 adoption fee, cash only, which is to help reimburse for a portion of expenses of dog rescue and rehabilitation. Adoption contract required. We are looking for adopters who are willing and able to care for this dog for its lifetime (several more years). Location: Quail Valley/Menifee, Southwest Riverside County. Local adoptions only; within 75 mile radius because we deliver animal to its new home to do a home/yard check. We prescreen potential adopters before setting up a meeting. If interested, please email us with a little info about you, your family, your other pets, your experience as a dog owner (which breed, etc.), where you live (which city, home or apt?), etc. Thank you. Our adoption process involves meeting the animal, either at Petco in Menifee on Saturdays from 10-2 or by appointment on other days at the rescue. If you like the animal and we both feel it is a good match, then an application and adoption contract will need to be completed. We then arrange a convenient day/time for us to deliver the animal to its new home to do a home check. We will collect the adoption fee (cash only) at that time. All our adoptions are on a trial basis because our goal is to have a successful adoption where the animal has a good permanent home and never ends up in a bad situation again. We ask that you give the animal a chance to adjust and settle in his new home and environment. Going to a new home with new people and new environment is traumatic and stressful. It will take time for the animal to become comfortable around you and his/her new home. This should be a bonding period where you get to know the animal and connect with it, spend time with it and take things slow. He/she will need to get to know and trust you and learn the rules of the house and what is expected of him/her. This takes time, sometimes 2-3 weeks. During this time we will hold the adoption fee and if the adoption is not working out, we ask that you contact us and return the animal and we will refund your adoption fee.
