Rusty is an awesome companion. He's tall, handsome, smart, sweet, and fun, and at nearly 65# with long legs and big feet, he's only 8 months old. He pays attention and learns quickly, and loves (and needs) to run - follow a bike or play half pipe in empty irrigation canals complete with the flying leap at the top of the 'pipe'. He loves to snuggle with his person and to be part of the pack with other dogs and kids. Since he came to Blackhat, he's been experiencing a lot of new social activity and responding positively. We know he gets along well with families, children, and women. He will do fine with a man as part of his extended family. He enjoys his foster mom and her several other dogs and he has made friends with nearby families with kids and dogs. Still a puppy, he can be nervous about new situations, and needs coaching from patient people he trusts, to be confident. He learns a lot by example from his dog friends. Since Rusty is athletic, he can get over some pretty tall fences. However, once he is happy and feeling safe, he has no desire to run away. Rusty is not a 'wanderer' like a hound. Rusty bonds with those he trusts, who are kind to him. He has shown himself to be a wonderful loyal companion. He is house trained and good on a leash. Rusty is ready to find a good home and bond with his forever people. A meet-and-greet is important, to see if he feels the chemistry and approves of the match!
