About Dasher

My name is Dasher and I am from Las Cruces, New Mexico. My owner took me to jail when I was sick, malnourished and bleeding when I tried to go to the bathroom, along with my pregnant sister. We were both very sick but the rescue saved us. I was in critical care for the first week and not looking so good but the rescue didn't give up on me. I had supportive care while we were treated for internal parasites and cleaned up. They say I was touch and go for about a week but I am all better now and happy that is behind me. I have gained thirty pounds since then!! I thought I was getting a forever home with my sister but the rescue decided, now that we are both feeling better, she may be a bit bossy for me - finally someone noticed! I wouldn't mind a new sister, as long as she isn't so bossy. I'm very easy to get along with. I am very sweet and calm and have learned how to walk well on a leash, that was weird to begin with, but now I have that all figured out. The rescue said I was someone's yard ornament, because I was so dirty, scared of people, and not potty trained but I have been really working hard on my social skills! The rescue says I am awesome now. I learn really really fast. I picked up what this potty training was all about very fast. I thought you were always supposed to go anywhere but I hadn't spent time in a house before. Now that I have, I know not to do that inside. I also learned to sit for treats. I also practiced crate training - it is not my favorite but the rescue said I needed to learn to get a really nice home and I want that so I gave in. I also respect barriers like expens and baby gates. I'm even a good boy for baths once I figured out they weren't trying to drown me with the hose, now I like being all cleaned up and shiny. AARTA says I am a really nice representation of the breed. I think that's their way of calling me handsome which, of course, I am! They also say you will be instantly enthralled with my beauty... but spend a bit of time with me and you will see that I am very affectionate and loving once I come out of my shell.
