[Read About Natural Cancer Care] See WAALrescue.org/adoptions for more info and to apply for adoption. Remember 'Perty Gerty,' saved from euthanasia with a massive tumor on her leg? Yesterday, we received some heartbreaking news during her tumor removal surgery. The doctor felt that her tumor is most likely cancerous. We are awaiting pathology results to confirm and to figure out how aggressive it is. With this discovery, we were left with minimal options. Out of love and care for our sweet senior Gerty, the decision was made to remove her tumor and avoid any further invasive and harsh treatment (chemotherapy, amputation, etc) for cancer. We would prefer that she live the rest of what time she has been loved and in as little pain as possible. When her pathology results come back we will tackle her long-term comfort care plan and update you all then. BUT in some positive news, she is doing ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC so far after surgery. All of her blood work came back normal for her organs so that is very encouraging news! Her foster mom is ready and prepared to love and care for her for however long she has left. We are still planning to find Gerty her furever home, so she is available for adoption! If you are interested in letting this girl spend the rest of her days with you, please visit WAALrescue.org/adoptions for an application and more information.
