About Abe

My name is Abe, and if you are looking for a distinguished, polite gentleman to be your new companion, you can't go wrong with me! I am an 8-year-old Lab mix who is looking for a forever family to call my very own. I currently weigh in around 45 pounds, but could stand to gain a few. I have luxurious black fur, and handsome salt-and-pepper markings on my face that highlight my loving eyes and big, silly grin. You might fall in love with me at first sight, but it is my amazing personality that will keep you hooked, for sure! My friends from Fetching Tails saved me from Chicago Animal Care & Control, where I was found as a stray. I waited patiently for almost two months, and was so excited when I found out that I would get to move on to a loving foster home and leave the loud, busy shelter behind me! I have adapted well to the good, lounging life with my foster momma. I am a pretty calm dog at home, and love to curl up on the couch for some quality TV and chill time. I love to be around my people and dole out sweet kisses to everyone I meet. I am also friendly with other dogs, and when I was at CACC I got to hang out with my canine friends in playgroup in the fenced park. I like to kiss my doggie friends, too. What can I say? I am a friendly, affectionate guy! I also have pretty amazing manners, as well. I am potty trained and crate trained; I do fine home alone while my foster mommy has to go to work. I am quiet and don't bark very much, either. My favorite place to sleep at night is on my favorite doggie bed next to my foster mommy's human bed. I do get a little excited about food and try to help myself in the kitchen, but I am a good listener and stop when my foster mommy tells me no. I also how to sit on command, especially when it means I will get an extra yummy, tasty treat! Nothing makes me happier than making my people happy.
