About Riley

Riley is fostered in Round Rock, TX through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Riley is a beautiful 7 year old, 8 pound little girl who came to United Yorkie Rescue in December 2017. Riley came to United Yorkie Rescue after her owner passed away. He was a young man in his 30s who played with Riley, but she doesn't seem to have been socialized much based on her behavior when being walked and encountering another dogs. Riley's personality really changes, and she appears to be very aggressive. She has been around another Yorkie who is a bit older and very laid-back, and while Riley growled and lunged, she made no effort to bite and eventually settled down. Riley will need to be worked with to gain social skills and interact with good manners. Riley has a condition called Lymphangiectasia, which is a protein-losing enteropathy. She is stable with her medications, and her prescription food. The condition requires someone who's committed to long term monitoring and care. For this reason, it would be wonderful if Riley finds a home with adults and as the only dog where her food is monitored, as she cannot have other food. Riley is such a lovable pup! She's house trained, friendly, attentive, and very well-behaved. We believe with patience and training she could co-exist with a non-dominant housemate, but again if another animal in the house there will need to be care watch that she does not eat that animals food due to her condition. Riley will love having a backyard to play ball with you, and a cozy couch to curl up on next to you and would likely be happy not to go on walks at all as long as she has plenty of toys and play time.
