About Alice-ADOPTION PENDING

Cairn / Jack Russell
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are engaging, super-smart and make excellent family companions. They are a great fit for most active households and are extremely loyal companions for most age groups as well as other dogs. Alice is one of these cuddly, kind and very sweet Terriers. The New Mexico vets believe Alice to be a Cairn Terrier mixed with a bit of Jack Russell (this assessment was based on body structure and personality). Once comfortable in her surroundings, Alice is a playful and very silly/entertaining girl..very true to typical Terrier traits. Alice is so puppyish in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. As you can see in her photo, Alice was very worried in the shelter environment (who wouldn't be?), but once she was removed from the overwhelming noise of the harsh environment of a high kill shelter and in the care of a foster ..she started to heal. And soon, Alice's face began to lose the worried look she wore while waiting for rescue. Her love of life has started to return and a hesitant waggy tail shows her devotion to her new foster. Most rescue dogs are initially a bit shy (rehoming can be confusing and a bit overwhelming). Once they're responsibly placed in a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will begin to shine. Alice is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. We're searching for a family that spends lots of time at home...or loves to take a small, sweet dog along with them. Dog-loving and active retirees would be perfect. Alice would be a loyal best friend...overjoyed with the time spent together and the loving attention she would receive. A younger family that works from home would be great as well. Alice will be a great home-office companion...as well as an excellent foot warmer on winter days. Alice is such a great age and size... at just about 2 - 2.5 years old (a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life yet old enough to have left most babyish behaviors behind) and weighs about 15 lbs...perfect size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet pup is welcome. We'll update when we receive Alice's exact age and weight. Alice has the potential for a beautiful coat with shades of silver, black and the whitest of white running through it. Her coat looks shelter-tired right now. With a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition, Alice's hair will return to the classic beauty of a scruffy Terrier coat. We've requested that Alice be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Alice's spay and microchip after her arrival if our Denver vet is used. Alice will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 12/16/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to [email protected] or fax to 303-443-7730. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Alice, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
