About Ziggy

Adoption Fee: $100
Dachshund
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Need to Rehome Ziggy is a 8 1/2 year old dachshund who has severe anxiety that we haven't been able to control with medicine (no meds have worked), can't control Bowles, and has the tendency to bite. Shouldn't be around small children as he gets scared easily and will bite. He has bitten our son quite a few times since he was really little along with a few family members and friends, but we never did anything (our fault) Now that we are expecting another baby we don't want that to happen again. He is good around dogs male or female. Ziggys anxiety started from puppyhood and has only gotten worse over the years. I think it's because we got him at 6 weeks which is too soon. The medicine we have tried only seemed to make it worse and he has a very high tolerance or his anxiety is just that intense. As of right now when he is inside he has to be in crate because he pees and poops. He used to be house trained but after he slipped a disc in his lower back 4 years ago his ability to control Bowles has gotten worse. I wash his bedding about 3-4 times weekly! Because of his anxiety/incontinence, my husband carries him up in his crate every morning and evening. If we leave him downstairs for any amount of time he starts barking and chirping and will not stop. He does great outside but once it's time to come in or he notices that your not in living room he starts barking and gets freaked out. Car rides are the same. He freaks out and starts making a hissing/chirping noise. We have been taking care of him and loving him as much as we can and would like to find a home where he can be taken care of 24/7 as he is a special needs dog. We do love ziggy but I mentally, financially and physically am unable to care for him in the manner that meets his special needs. Will send blankets with him as he likes to burrow in them, dog bowl and his crate. rehoming fee to be donated just want to find him a person who has experience with dogs like him.
