About RED

Adoption Fee: $50
Redbone Coonhound mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Red, an active, friendly, and playful hound who enjoys life with his foster family. He loves to pick up a stick and entice his many dog friends to play keep away with him. You would never know that this active hound dog, recently found abandoned in the Cherokee National Forest, grew up in a kennel way too small for him, and his bones were unable to grow to their natural size. Because of this, Red's four legs are bowed-out. The first thing you might think about this dog is that he is malformed and in pain. After visiting a vet specializing in unique cases, it was determined that Red is not in pain and is able to interact naturally with other dogs despite his crab-like gate. It is evident that Red loves life as he howls across the valley to other dog friends, joyfully joins his kennel mates for some running and pushing fun, and always greets his caretakers with a shove of his big nose and giant wags from his whole back end! Red is looking for his permanent home. Please call SHARP if you would like to meet Red. Meet Red, an active, friendly, and playful hound who enjoys life with his foster family. At first look you immediately notice his gait is unusual. The reason for this is according to our veterinarian is he was kept in too small a crate during the important formation of bones during his puppy hood. She assured us he is not in pain. She thought he should have the chance to live out his life well loved because he is such a noble animal he deserved that. We do too here at Safe Haven Animal Rescue. We love him and want him to have own.
