About Maddie

Meet Maddie! Or as Curtis called her, Little Maddie. Maddie has had a hard life, and when she landed at Chicago Animal care control she was deemed too broken with no hope for adoption. (Ha! We prove daily how wrong and untrue those assements are). This meant Maddie was to be euthanized unless a rescue pulled her. Her chances of adoption were slim to none by no fault of her own. She is a black dog (strike 1), she was pretty much labeled broken with 0 hope of ever being a normal dog (strike 2), life for her was hard and it showed. She was part of a cruelty case; a possible dog fighting situation. Not many will want a fearful/ skittish dog (strike 3), let's not forget she is not a puppy so... (Another strike). Well crap, the odds of her ever finding a happy forever are slim. Curtis saw past it ALL, and took Maddie on. Thanks to a few volunteers from the shelter that refused to give up on Maddie. Her life was great with Curtis....and then he passed away unexpectedly last year. Once again, Maddie was facing euthanasia. A year plus later here she is! She's come a long way. We just finished what Curtis started years ago. Maddie is 6 to 8 years old, good with most dogs that are smaller than her, and with proper intro and patience, good with cats, and loves people once she trusts and is comfortable (does not take much time). She would be great as an only dog as well. She walks well on a leash and is well mannered. She is house and crate trained. Maddie needs a fenced in yard. She is very active and all muscle at 37.5 #, but not hyper at all. She loves daily walks, makes a great running partner, enjoys cycling, and her all time favorite is snuggling with a soft blanket with her person and watching Netflix.
