About Flower

American Staffordshire Terrier / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Flower is in need of a new foster or ideally adoptive home. She is currently located in Cape Coral, FL (Lee County) and transport is available throughout the state to a new foster home. Flower has been in rescue since 2015 when she, her mom and littermates were rescued from having been dumped in a box in Miami. All her family members have been adopted and she has been in a special needs foster home, which we are hoping she no longer needs soon. From Flower's current foster: We took Flower in as a hospice foster for Ewenity. She came to us with a life expectancy (which she has surpassed) of 1 to 2 years old due to a heart condition known as cardiomyopathy. Ewenity provides Flower's medications and veterinary care, including regular cardiology checkups and echocardiograms at 6-month intervals. As her foster we provide her supplements, heartworm and flea prevention, daily care, exercise and transportation to her appointments. At each of her cardiologist visits her heart condition has improved. At the last appointment the cardiologist reported that her heart function had further improved to near normal. We are hoping to see this trend continue at her next appointment (pending soon). Flower is a 2-year-old, 63 pound spayed female, chocolate brown, bully breed mix with maybe some lab thrown in as well. Her mom looks like an American bully and is doing great in her forever home. Flower is so lanky she is surely mixed with something athletic. She is an attention-seeking, fun-loving, energetic pup that loves to run and play. Flower gets along well with and loves to play with other dogs, but can get a bit intense. For this reason she is not suited for homes with small children or small pets. She sleeps in a crate at night and when her current foster family leaves the house. She is pretty well potty trained and goes potty outside on leash. She knows basic commands and leash etiquette, but has a stubborn streak sometimes. On leash she will participate in simple agility tasks, but off leash she loses focus and just wants to run. She requires a fenced yard for play and exercise. Flower is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm negative. Please inquire if you are interested in fostering or adopting this sweet and wonderful girl.
