About Rosie

Adoption Fee: $25
Redbone Coonhound
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Rosie is a 2017 Home for the Holidays dog. This is Rosie's first Christmas having arrived in January of this year but it is a year for the elegant purebred redbone coonhound to be in residence. The confinement of kennel life is hard for a big girl like Rosie who longs to have space and people in her life. Rosie had to learn how to play and how to enjoy the company of people which she did with the help of volunteers and staff. Though only 11 months old when she arrived Rosie did not begin life in the heart of a home. She was kept outdoors, isolated and had little socialization. That isolation prevented her from learning how to share with other dogs which has resulted in food aggression when other dogs are nearby. She did not have skills in household etiquette (potty training) and she did not know that cats were not small prey to be hunted. So for all her beauty and regal bearing, her shortcomings were a constant deterrent in the search for a home that was safe and would welcome Rosie as a family member able to enjoy the companionship of living alongside her person(s). Rosie loves to run and is very strong'|VERY! Her instincts to follow her nose combined with that love of running require a home with a secure fence in order to adopt Rosie. She will only be adopted into a home without cats in order to ensure it remains a happy home. Rosie is almost 2 years old. Her fee has been subsidized by a sponsor to $25. She is spayed, fully vaccinated and tested free of heart worms. Application can be submitted online at our website: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/'|/dog-adopti'|/ or at the shelter. Adoption policies/application procedures are detailed under All Adoptable Animals. Adoption of all dogs/cats requires an approval process to ensure that they are going into a home suitable for their needs and committed to their care and safety. Each is placed with same due diligence that they would be given if they were our own furry family members. Adopters who are not within the local area of the shelter MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. Meeting approved adopters is one of the final steps in the adoption process. We do not permit transport or shipping of our residents without the adopter. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter which provides quality care, spay/neuter-all vaccines, deworming, vet exam, standard disease testing and for dogs-monthly heart worm prevention treatment. Resident animals are owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The shelter is not permitted by GA law to accept strays. The facility is usually operating at capacity with a list of animals approved for intake waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4.
