About Cooper

Golden Retriever / Nova Scotia Duck Toller
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Cooper is a 2017 Home for the Holidays dog. He first came under the shelter's care two years ago in Jan 2016. He has the features of a golden border collie, Nova Scotia Duck Toller and/or Golden Retriever (teacup version). He has an endearing face and as of late very sad eyes. He is 9 years making him the oldest of our dogs. Cooper has been adopted 3 times since he arrived and returned 3 times. He does not like children which became an issue in two homes. He also was discovered to be over possessive of items/food which would cause him to snap if he believed those items were being taken from him. He was put on medication during the summer which has helped to lessen his anxiety level resulting in a much more contented dog. He is house trained, leash trained and responds to sit and lay down. He is sweet and loving with adults and is very fond of his caretakers. He will not be adopted into a home with children or with cats. He has been in the play yards with one of the female dogs and they are indifferent to each other. A fenced yard is required. Cooper's fee has been subsidized by a sponsor to $25. He is neutered, fully vaccinated and tested free of heart worms. Application can be submitted online at our website: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/'|/dog-adopti'|/ or at the shelter. Adoption policies/application procedures are detailed under All Adoptable Animals. Adoption of all dogs/cats requires an approval process to ensure that they are going into a home suitable for their needs and committed to their care and safety. Each is placed with same due diligence that they would be given if they were our own furry family members. Adopters who are not within the local area of the shelter MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. Meeting approved adopters is one of the final steps in the adoption process. We do not permit transport or shipping of our residents without the adopter. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter which provides quality care, spay/neuter-all vaccines, deworming, vet exam, standard disease testing and for dogs-monthly heart worm prevention treatment. Resident animals are owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The shelter is not permitted by GA law to accept strays. The facility is usually operating at capacity with a list of animals approved for intake waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4. Closed Mondays Location: 4823 Helen Hwy. 75N, Sautee, GA 30571, Phone: 706-865-4135 Email: [email protected] Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/smithgallhumanesociety/ Charles Smithgall Humane Society is located in the mountains of NE GA, 3 miles south of the alpine town of Helen.
