The first thing you notice about Izzy is the love and positive attitude that is always with her. It's somewhat surprising considering this beautiful Poodle/Cairn Terrier mix was part of a hoarding ring. In this case, it's clear that the hoarder loved her dogs, didn't abuse them and thought she was doing right by them... but was sadly the victim of mental illness. She meant to love every dog into perfect health and well being...but reality is that you need supplies and volunteers to help with such a large endeavor. It was surprising (but no less sad) that upon vetting (with only a few exceptions), the dogs checked out to be healthy with very friendly temperaments. You would never know that this was Izzy's history. She is a loving spirit that seeks what every being is searching for...a home and a family that loves her. She has a sweet and engaging temperament that once comfortable in her surroundings, wants to bond with everyone. Izzy becomes so devoted to anyone who shows love and caring. A soft pat is gratefully accepted and a belly rub followed by a treat is nirvana.One thing that is certain is that this pup is always grateful for kindness and love..and returns that a thousand times over. Izzy's challenging early life taught her that the best of behavior brings good things her way...and when she is acknowledged, the joy starts at her wagging tail and moves up to her dark and expressive eyes. At a tiny 8 lbs and just 18 - 24 months old, Izzy has a long lifetime ahead to enjoy the best of life in a permanent home. The efforts of many contributed to the rescue, foster and arrangements for Izzy to get her boarding pass to Colorado and Farfel's Rescue. The consensus was unanimous that this very sweet pup earned her ticket with an engaging personality and so much love to give. We all feel that Izzy will be a very positive addition to a dog-crazy family. izzy's New Mexico rescuer said it the best...this beautiful girl with the beautiful face (and a coat that with loving care will feel like cotton) will easily become the love of someone's life! Izzy adores me and she even shows enthusiasm for my grumpy teenagers. It's not unusual to find Izzy wedged into a small spot on the couch with her adorable head on me and her body draped across my daughter's lap. We'll miss her like none other, but know that Izzy is in good hands and will be the best friend a special Colorado family can ever imagine! We'd like to place Izzy in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Izzy would also enjoy the company of a fun and respectful canine...she would love the playtime and companionship. Izzy will shine for a family who is kind and very loving while being a leader...this will bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside of this very cute and loving Poodle/Terrier. Izzy will love the extensive neighborhood paths of Colorado. She's the perfect size to enjoy walks and socializing...window-shopping would also be great to fine-tune her urban skills and provide the socialization that is so important in the development of a dog's abilities. With feelings of security within the family, Izzy will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will always return. Izzy appears to have the potential for a cottony-soft, non-shedding coat (although it's difficult to tell for certain until her sad, uncared for hair grows out). Izzy will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her lovely coat shining, cottony-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Izzy be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Izzy's spay and microchip after her arrival if our Denver vet is used. Izzy will be arriving on transport in Denver right around 12/15 (we'll be updating on date/time of arrival as soon as all is finalized).
