[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Dexter is a dog we took in from a friend who found him wandering the streets for several months. She was able to coax him to her door and called us because her apartment doesn't allow dogs. He was very malnourished but extremely lovable. We took him to the vet to check for a microchip, but he didn't have one. We posted flyers and called shelters and rescues to see if anyone had lost him. No luck there. So we decided to keep him until we could get him healthy. We took him into the vet and got him microchipped, neutered and got all of his vaccines and started him on heartworm preventative. We worked to get his weight back on and he has gained about 25 pounds over the last year. He is very good with people and children. He absolutely HATES cats, which is why we can't keep him. We have had trainers come in and even sent him to a board and train for three weeks... but have had zero success in breaking his habit of trying to eat the cats. So he needs a home that has no cats. He absolutely LOVES people and is very gentle! He follows us around the house and likes to be close to people at all times. We have had him around children as young as 8 and he is great with them. After we had him for three weeks, he had his first seizure. We took him to the vet and had every test we could think of run, and the results all came back fine. The vet said his seizures aren't health related and are hereditary. We chose not to put him on traditional seizure meds, and have had him on CBD oil and natural anti-seizure medication with very good results. This is a wonderful dog, and we would keep him except for him refusing to get along with our cats. It has become a critical issue and we need to rehome him soon or we will have no choice but to put him with a rescue or take him to the shelter.
