About Harley

Adoption Fee: $200
Australian Kelpie / Chow Chow
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Harley is a 5 year old, 45 pound Kelpie. She came to Iowa from Texas after Hurricane Harvey. Harley was homeless before the hurricane and moved north to make room for the dogs that would need to be held so their owners could find them after the storm. Harley needed some help when she arrived in Iowa. She had a small limbal tumor in her left eye and had eye surgery to remove it. Harley also had a painful neck. The vets discovered she had a herniated disc in her neck and did another surgery to fix it. Harley is now happy and healthy and ready to find a home of her own. Harley is a sweet, gentle girl who loves attention. She has great house manners. Harley has two favorite things in life. Car rides and soft toys. Harley will happily hop in a car and go anywhere with you. She rides shotgun and does great. Harley carries her soft toys everywhere with her and loves to cuddle with them. Since Harley is a Kelpie, she is one of the smartest of all breeds. She is highly intelligent and learns quickly. Her superior intellect combined with her intensity and passion for keeping busy means she needs an owner smarter than she is. Harley's forever home should have a fenced yard and no kids under 10. Kelpie's were bred to herd and she would quickly have small children herded up. Harley would be happiest to be an only dog but would also do well with a calm male dog. A cat would be viewed as a squeaky toy. Harley is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and heartworm tested.
