About Chloe

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Chloe is a 3 year old, 15-20 lb Chihuahua mix (potentially with Dachshund) who came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue after she didn't get much interest at a shelter. She was kind of shy at the shelter and the staff there thought she may do better in a foster environment, so she hitched a ride to Boise. Now that Chloe has settled into her foster home, she has shown herself as a rough and tumble and playful girl. She has had puppies in the past, so she is enjoying the post motherhood portion of her life. Her foster sisters have taught her how to play fetch, and she has learned that toys are fun because they squeak! Chloe loves playing with her foster sisters by wrestling or playing keep away with the chuck-it ball. But after a good play session, Chloe is happy to snuggle up on the couch with you. If you are a ship, she will be your barnacle, as she will want to be attached to your side. She is very affectionate and loves to give kisses to her humans. She will sleep in a crate at night but she would much prefer to snuggle with you. Like we mentioned she is shy at first, and it seems she didn't have a 'normal' dog life before getting to the shelter. So, she definitely needs to time to trust humans around her, and a lot of things in a normal loving home are new to her. One of the things she is working on in her foster home is learning to love her harness and leash. Her new home will need to be confident and patient working through leash training with her, because if she gets scared she will try to get away. Somewhere along the line, she learned to stand when she hears the command 'sit' and while that's not 'normal' it sure is cute. We think Chloe would do great in an active home who has the time, patience, and ability to train her. She is afraid of larger dogs, but a smaller, playful, and active companion would be a must for her. She loves to run and play in the backyard but can jump a bit, so a nice secure yard with a tall fence will help her adjust and be a safe place for her while you continue her leash training. She is good with the cats in her foster home, although sometimes she needs to be reminded to leave them alone. Chloe is spayed and is up to date on her shots. She has no health issues although gets mild fall allergies that can be remedied with drugstore allergy medicine.
