About River Cooter

Cosmo is one of six River Cooter hatchlings born to Shelby, who is currently in our care. Cosmo was born with one eye. We know he can see at least light and movement out of his right eye, but we are unsure he has enough vision to survive in the wild. We are considering adoption applications for Cosmo. However, since we will not know his gender for years, he requires a home who has the capability of providing him with an appropriately sized tank as he grows and an enclosed, predator-proof pond if he is indeed a she! Cosmo is extremely smart. He has learned the 'landmarks' in his tank and he appears to know his name as he will turn and look at you when you greet him. He is playful and engaging! He is absolutely precious when he assumes his 'swimmer's pose' on his basking dock! *Adoptable turtles are only shipped during the winter months weather conditions permitting.
