About Rook

MEET ROOK!! Rook is a beautiful sable, 5 year-old male German Shepherd that was surrendered to the Downey shelter in CA. Rook came to us in January 2017 and was quickly adopted. However, this super sweet and fun boy was recently returned to the rescue by his family when they had to move into the city and Rook became extremely unhappy. Unfortunately, this is the second time this has happened to him. Rook suffers from a condition called mega-esophagus. His case is easily controlled and requires a couple of medications that are inexpensive as well as a special diet and diligent feeding schedule. Without his medication, proper nutrition and fixed feeding schedule, Rook regurgitates. His condition is being managed easily without the use of a Bailey chair (special chair made for dogs with mega-e). This handsome fella does GREAT with people (large and small) as well as other dogs. He walks well on a leash and rides great in the car. He absolutely LOVES being outdoors and would do best in a home with an active family that is home more so he can be in and out during the day, getting plenty of exercise. Camping, hiking and being out and about are things that Rook LOVES to do. Rook is UTD, microchipped, HW-, neutered and current on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. Adoption Fee $400.
