This is Dex. He is a 1 year old cattle dog/mix. Unfortunately, he needs a new home. Dex is a sweet, attentive and affectionate dog. He enjoys running around and playing. He is not prone to barking, is potty/kennel trained and has had all vaccinations and license. He was diagnosed with a dislocated hip that causes him to limp occasionally, but with no easy repair. The vet has said he will live a full, happy and pain free life despite this. He is also good with my children. His only drawback is a herding behavior that cattle dogs sometimes exhibit. With children he doesn't know, he yipes close to the face. It's not aggressive behavior, but I have a newborn soon to come into my home. I also have plenty of other children in and out of my home. He has lived with my other 3 children happily and without incident. I have hoped that more extensive training may stop this behavior, but I haven't and won't be able to afford it in the near term in either time or money. I think his ideal home may be one without this kind of traffic of children. He loves his time outside and inside, and is very good at spending the majority of his time in either. He has never shown aggression to an adult. He LOVES other dogs as well, and would be an ideal buddy for other pets. He gets along with the cats in our area as well. Its very important to our family that Dex has a home to go to. I don't want to drop him at a shelter and hope for the best. We all love him very much and want to see him find another home that can love him as well as we have.
