Meet KOA | AVAILABLE | SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ONLY | EMAIL: [email protected] | We all have 'the best dog I ever had' stories - and our awesome dog Koa is yours in the making. This 19lb, 4-year-old faux fox fur pup was given up at the Carlsbad shelter thanks to irresponsible owners/adopters. Through our DiscoverMe Project in partnership with the Carlsbad shelter, we busted this guy outta jail and have now made him an official Wagging Dog! YAY! Koa is SUCH a good boy. He's ultra responsive to verbal cues, highly food motivated, already knows a few tricks, and LOVES to play with other similarly-sized friendly dogs. He happily chases balls but you'll have to bribe him to get the balls back BOL! He's also quite the handsome boy. Koa's coat is thick and luxurious, more like a fox pelt than dog hair, and his soft puppy-like ears and curly tail make him a real charmer. Don't ask us what breed he is - Koa is One of a Kind. And yes folks, he's house broken. In fact, this dog has truly impressive manners. Koa hasn't shown any destructive tendencies - not even chewing (or ripping the stuffing out of) toys, and he has EXCELLENT leash manners. When he needs to 'go outside,' he'll let you know with a meaningful look (or failing that, a lick on the elbow - he communicates very clearly). Not particularly prone to barking, and not sound sensitive, we think he'll do well in a quiet home (that wants to stay quiet). He's a great companion, affectionate but not clingy, and considering he's been in the shelter far too long with a lot of upheaval in a very short period of time, it's amazing how chill he is. That said, he does like to be in the same room with you and will voice his opinion if kept out of the fun. And Koa is all about fun! Toys, balls, bones - as soon as he's up in the morning, it's playtime. His enthusiasm is catching, and watching him go is a great way to start the day. Since Koa is on the smaller side, we think he'd do best in a home with older children if any, and a well-matched companion dog who likes to play would really be stellar. He can also live with a savvy feline! He'd love a yard but doesn't need one if provided with adequate walks. Koa needs grain-free, chicken-free food but otherwise is a super easy keeper. Is Koa stealing your heart already?
