About Anabel

Adoption Fee: $100
Treeing Walker Coonhound / Black and Tan Coonhound
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Anabel is such a sweet, affectionate, goofy hound with a huge personality. She lives to play with other dogs, even has a regular wrestling partner. In the winter the cat Harley shares a bed with her, just so she can get the cat to clean her head and ears. She tries to get the cat to clean her by looking upside-down and backwards like a total goofball. She regularly has the entirety of the house in tears. Her favorite past time is weaving back and forth across the fenced yard and following her nose. Since we have gotten her she has had allergy issues. We took her to the vet shortly after getting her for her itching, vet said its dry skin. Said wash in special shampoo and give oatmeal baths. 2 weeks later, vet says we must have flees and its not a stretch since we have 2 dogs 2 cats. Even though he finds no evidence and we assure him all 4 receive drops. Told my drops may not work and all it takes is a single flee to bite her once and to get one with a specific ingredient. We buy all new drops, give both dogs baths in special shampoos, spray all 4 animals, their bedding, the couch, floor. Put new flee collars on all 4, even threw one in the canister of the vacuum in case I picked any flees up when I vacuumed every day. This all turned to grain free food, allergy meds then chicken free.. to $70 bags of food to various vitamins and supplements. We were down to switching vets Now life has gotten complicated, she had snipped at one of the cats before over the cat dropping their treat or getting to close to a new dogfood. Just before I recived custody of my departed brothers youngest son we had to rush our sons cat to the emergency vet to have her leg amputated because she sniffed Anabels new smoked bone. Since then she has brought in the gift of a freshly killed squirrel and caught a opossum. Last night Samantha , the other dog was savoring the chicken jerky and dropped a bit on the floor. The two girls had to be pulled apart, Anabels mouth pryed open to force her to release Samanthas neck. We all love her so very much, she is a great cuddler, believes her spot is under the blanket sandwiched between her people.Loves car rides, demands car rides, She rings a bell when she needs to go potty, or sometimes she is bored and just wants to spend time outside. She knows sit, shake lay down as well as a few others She is extremely eager to learn. If there is a treat involved her attention she will move the heavens to get it if she can. Which leads back in to what happened last night. We are heart broken, she has become such a huge part of our lives and is such a goofy lovebug. She really is a great dog. Maybe she has to much of the hunt in her and would benefit to be trained. Maybe she just needs a more knowledgeable person to aid her. To her humans she is nothing but loving, devoted.
