About Lucky Duck

Adoption Fee: $50
Poodle / Shih Tzu
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Lucky Duck is an 18 lb., three year old - probably poodle/schnauzer/shih tzu/something mix. Whatever is his heritage, he's a cute guy. He's good on leash and loves to go for walks. He's crate trained and will go in his crate on his own during the day to chill. Lucky Duck is house trained when kept on a schedule. He's good with the dogs in his foster home but Lucky can be selective about his doggie friends. He's good with dog-savvy cats and will sometimes try to play with them. Lucky Duck is very affectionate but he takes time to trust and feel safe. When he's comfortable, he'll jump into your lap in the evening so he can watch TV with you. Lucky would need to be in a female-only home. Probably due to trauma in his past, he's fearful of men. Lucky has something that causes skin to be super-itchy. He takes an Apoquel pill every day. It helps in reducing his itchiness and it's something that he will need for life or until we know what is causing the itching. Another thing he needs to take is thyroid medication which is very inexpensive. Because of his skin allergies, he must be kept on a high quality, grain-free diet. Lucky likes kibble so brands like Fromm and Orijen are excellent. He can't eat any kibble with corn, by-products, or grain. Lucky is up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives. NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
