About Zena

Zena, Warrior Princess, in training . . . Zena is a 40lb 4 �%BD year-old female Shepherd-mix. She is spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Zena is a quiet, contemplative, well-behaved, and affectionate, but shy and skittish dog. Zena languished in the kennel of an animal shelter for over 6 months. Repeatedly being passed by due to her shy quiet nature. But this wallflower is beginning to blossom in her new foster home where she lives with an adult, one cat and one dog. There are no children in her foster home, and small children would likely startle her. But older well-behaved children should be fine. Zena seems to be a deep-thinker and assesses situations. She is housetrained, knows, 'Come,' and 'Go Potty' is working on learning additional language/commands. She seems to have had no prior leash training. So, her foster mom is using a training-collar with her because she tends to pull and easily startles. Indoors, Zena is trusted with free-roam, but also has a crate, which she often sleeps in. When her person is home, she enjoys sitting next to her on the sofa, being petted and even giving occasional kisses. She is non-reactive with the cat and doesn't even try to steal her food. She's not yet playing with the other dog, but she shares toys easily and has zero food aggression. Although, she may harbor some ill will towards squeaky-toys, and she is very adept in separating each squeaker from its toy. Like a hidden door to a secret garden, Zena's soul awaits unlocking. Anyone reading this note could hold the key! It is not so mysterious. All is takes is patience and kindness, consistency and trust. Zena will never be fierce like a warrior, nor should she. However, she has the potential to be fiercely loving and fiercely loyal to the one who unlocks her heart. And, she has the potential to be a more relaxed, less fearful and therefore a happier and more Zen-like version of herself. Help Zena find her Zen!
