**BABY RATS FOR ADOPTION** (and 2 MAMAS TOO!!) S. HUNTINGTON, NY. Babies are various ages, with some available for adoption early-mid December. Babies will NOT be sent to their new homes until they stop nursing on their own and show independence. (There are multiple litters available of various ages so older/younger babies may be available - just ask!) This is 1 of 2 litters born on 11/8/17 to two rescue moms. The mother for this litter is named 'Fever' Mom's will also be considered for adoption, with preference given to anyone who also takes a little girl. There are 3 boys and 7 girls in Zika's litter. 3 Girls & 1 Boy that I believe will become 'Siamese' colored, with lighter bodies and brown smudges on their nose and often at the base of their tail. 2 Boys that are mostly black, but with white markings on their stomach All 4 Black capped/black hooded are girls. **Preference will be for babies that are Black and/or White be paired with a Siamese sibling for adoption** They have all been handled daily, and as they age they will be getting exposure to things like running water, pots & pans knocking into each other, flushing toilets, vacuums, and will even meet the dogs. In short, I'm trying to ensure they know that the world is not scary and us humans won't hurt them or put them in danger - which will help them settle into their new homes faster and pose less of a risk of getting scared and jumping from someone (especially kids) only to get loose in a home/apartment. Adoption fee is $15 per baby. I will WAIVE THE FEE upon receiving ANY of the following: - proof of a good setup including cage with small bar spacing (1/2' minimum - 3/4' max spacing between bars), climbing toys, play toys, etc... - proof of another rat in the household with a safe & fun cage setup - a vet reference from a small exotics vet or dog/cat vet to show that you are, or have been, a good pet owner. **adoption donations would be greatly appreciated, but are not mandatory. I do cover everything out of pocket, including new cages when needed, food, bedding, vetting for mom and/or babies if needed, and often travel for delivering them to new homes** I will do my best to match each adopter with rats of their color choice and who have temperaments best suited to those adopter's home-life and experience level. No adopters will be allowed to adopt a boy AND a girl and multiple adoptions must be same sex. Meetups can be arranged for anyone hoping to select their babies in person before they are ready to go home with you. Preferred pickup for these babies is in South Huntington, or Lindenhurst, NY. For adopters unable to get out to the island, just let me know where you live. I am very willing to drive them in to you (sorry folks, no Manhattan). Depending on your location and distance I may request a reimbursement for any tolls. I have in the past delivered to meetup points in CT and NJ, so do not hesitate to ask.
