**BABY RATS FOR ADOPTION** BROOKLYN, NY 15 Babies born 11/15/17, will be available for adoption mid-late December Babies will not be sent to their new homes until they stop nursing on their own and show independence. Coloring is mostly determinable from skin coloring, but in a few days as their fuzz grows in we will know better. We will also be able to sex them to determine the boys from the girls soon (some people can tell right away, but I've never been able to until about 8-9 days old) They will be regularly handled and as they age they will be getting exposure to all sorts of sounds and people (they were the surprise litter of a very sweet female rat that had been adopted by a classroom of 4-year-olds just a week earlier). They will also be comfortable traveling as they will go home with the teacher every weekend & holiday. ***PLEASE NOTE THAT these babies are not physically located with me, but with one of my adopters who took a baby girl from a rescue litter, and also took a very sweet female who was a very last minute rescue that had supposedly been all alone since having her previous babies take as feeders. As a result, it wasn't known that she was pregnant. I will be handling most of the adoption process, although the adopter who has the babies will of course be involved with letting us know temperaments of each, providing updated pics & video, and helping to fit each rat into the most suitable home**** Video of Ruth Mae nursing; if you cannot view please let me know as interested adopters can be added to the Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/marina.r.smith.9/videos/10103566004609972/ Adoption fee is $15 per baby, but I will HAPPILY WAIVE FEE with ANY of the following (although donations of any amount are greatly appreciated - they will be put toward helping other rats live out their years in good homes, being spoiled) : - proof of a good setup including cage with small bar spacing (1/2' minimum - 3/4' max spacing between bars), climbing toys, play toys, etc... - proof of another rat in the household with a safe & fun cage setup - a vet reference from a small exotics vet or dog/cat vet to show that you are, or have been, a good pet owner. I will do my best to match each adopter with rats of their coloring choice whenever possible. No adopters will be allowed to adopt a boy AND a girl; multiple adoptions must be same sex. Adopters with no other rats in their home will need to adopt at least 2.
