About Boomer

I Need Experienced Owners. Boomer was born about September 7, 2015 and weighs about 80 lbs. He is here because local humans got a little carried away breeding them and had too many dogs and, sadly, he has some behavior problems likely associated with genetics and environment. They say he is good with all kids, but we are looking for a child free home as they say there is some food aggression so if there is another dog they will need to be fed separately being neutered has helped a little with the food thing. Boomer does not have that typical Golden love everyone and everything personality, at least not yet. We've been working with him and things are getting better, but we still don't think he will ever be perfect and we are looking for experience dog owners that will understand his needs and be able to act appropriately to cause him to become the best dog he can be. One of the worse problems is fear of a leash. We are assuming when attached to a leash some negative things happen. He is so fearful of it that he bites at it and until this behavior is completely corrected you will need to be aware of the placement of your hands on the leash. We are going to start working with a harness and leash instead of a collar. Well, I thought I'd get the back stuff out of the way. He is house trained and does well in a car....sadly, he arrived here crated in the back of a pick-up. We are told he may have some wanderlust so a fence or leash should be in his future. He has been here almost 2 months as I write this and we are seeing his eyes soften and the glow of fear leave them. Boomer is learning we are pretty cool beings and we will always be kind to him. Now we just need to find the perfect humans and the perfect home for him to move forward beyond what we can do for him here. Is that you?
