About Memphis

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT* Howdy, friends! My name is Memphis and I am a super special, handsome fella who is looking for a special home to call my own! I am an 8-month-old mixed breed pup (my momma looks like a lab/shepherd mix, but my daddy is a mystery!) who is available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. Does breed really matter anyway when I am this cute and the biggest love bug? I think not! I currently weigh in at about 40 pounds and I have luxurious raven-black fur and a big, silly face with floppy ears that stick out because I love to hear you tell me you love me. And how about my love-filled chocolate brown eyes? I know looks aren't important, but you can't deny I am a total stud-muffin! My sweet, snuggly personality shines through all my stunning good looks! I came to Fetching Tails Foundation with my littermates from the Tunica Humane Society in Mississippi. Our momma Maria is a well-known stray dog who my friends at THS have been trying to save from the streets for a couple years. She just won't let the lovely ladies catch her, but always lets her human angels know when she had a litter and led them to my siblings and me. We were hiding out under an abandoned house, and were very happy when we were told we would get to make our way to Chicagoland to find loving forever homes! And let me tell you, I am so lucky to have crossed paths with my loving foster family: remember when I said I am an extra special boy? I have diabetes, so I require special care to keep me healthy. My foster parents give me insulin injections and monitor my blood glucose levels so I can continue to be the peppy, fun-loving boy I am meant to be. And I love to have fun: I enjoy play sessions with my doggie friends in the yard (I would love to have playful doggie friends and a fenced yard at my forever home!), and lots of sweet cuddle sessions with my humans. I also enjoy going for walks to the park so I can get my sniff on and explore the big, fun world; walks two-three hours after a meal help me with my insulin levels, too, so on top of being lots of fun it helps me feel better! I think my ideal home would be with a family where someone is home often to take care of my medical needs and can devote lots of loving attention to me. My foster mommy will be happy to explain in detail my insulin and feeding schedule so I can stay as healthy and happy as possible! I have excellent manners for a young dog, as well. I am potty trained and crate trained; because of my diabetes I have to go pee-pee often so I do have an occasional accident if I have to wait too long to go outside, but I know I am supposed to do my business outdoors and try my hardest to stick to that! I also know a couple commands including sit, and would love to learn more because I am definitely a people pleaser! Since I am a young guy, Fetching Tails will require my adopters to sign me up for training classes, and I can't wait to prove that I am quite the scholar! I think it will be loads of fun for both of us, and I am all about fun!
