About Pilgrim

My name is Pilgrim, and I'm told I'm one 'Hot Dog'. I'm suave and sophisticated, with a tad of a wrinkle in my face, so who knows what I'm mixed with. Pointer, Bulldog, you name it it's probably in there. I LOVE people. So much so that I do this funky dance when my caretakers bring me food or treats. Yeah, I'm that awesome. I get along with other dogs, but hey, my food is my food, so I really want to eat alone. Luckily my caretakers see that and keep the other dogs away during feeding. I'm a good 66 pounds and heartworm negative and microchipped, all which I'm told go a long way into making me the dog of your home dreams. I love toys and would be happy for you to invest your time into bringing me into your life. Pilgrim is a male pointer/American Bulldog mix found running with his buddy Oak as strays on Mooresville Hwy. His buddy Oak was pulled by rescue and Pilgrim is now vetted, so he is available for adoption. He was fine with other dogs as long as no food was around. He MUST be separated at feeding time and not allowed access to food with other dogs around. He is heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered now. His adoption fee is $75. He was fine with the shelter cats. The current adoption fee is $75 which includes the dogs spay or neuter and Rabies vaccination at a local vet, and covers the distemper/parvo vaccine and bordetella vaccine and dewormings it receives here at our shelter. No dog will leave the shelter to an adopter without being vetted first. By TN state law stray dogs are held for 3 days so they can be found by their owners before being put up for adoption or rescue. A dog found as a stray wearing a collar is held for 5 days before it is put up for adoption or rescue. Our shelter is a first come first adopt/rescue facility.There are no holds placed on dogs for potential adopters/rescue, however if a party is interested in a particular dog before it becomes available they may send an inquiry to [email protected] and those inquiries will be kept track of in order of received once dog becomes available. Adopters/rescues will be notified what order they are in in regards to each dog. They are available at 8am on the day they are available. Non vetted dogs will have an appointment scheduled and will be available for pickup for adoption the day after their surgery. Approved rescues may pull a dog and have vetted at their own expense once available to the public.
