About Gus

Gus is a 7 year old Boxer that came to us when he found himself homeless after his owner passed away. He is the perfect house companion as he is completely housetrained and very respectful of your belongings when left alone in the house! He walks great on a leash, and has excellent basic obedience skills. Gus was however treated very poorly at some point in his life, which has created some trust issues that we have had to address. ADA worked closely with our trainer at The Balanced Dog LLC to pinpoint and evaluate what kind of home Gus would be most comfortable in. You see, due to his mistreatment in the past, Gus is at times very unsure of himself and his surroundings which has caused him to snap at those he loves when he feels uncomfortable. It is not an issue that happens often, as Gus is a very affectionate dog. He will however need a calm, stable environment and a suitable owner to continue managing this issue. Since Gus has already worked with the trainer, we will need an adopter that will be willing to continue the relationship in working with the Balanced Dog LLC should any issue arise. Gus will have a free in home consult with the trainer for an adopter that we feel will fit Gus's needs. We want Gus's next home to be his last! While Gus has done excellent with children, we do prefer a home without them as he continues to build his trust with his new owner. Gus did well the other dogs in his trainers home with the exception of one young dog that didn't give him the space he needed. His new home will need to be patient and exercise very slow introductions with other dogs in the home.
